From Turistas to Tron - two beautiful actresses have joined Disney's Tr2n. Olivia Wilde, of Alpha Dog, Turistas, and "House", and Beau Garrett, of Turistas, Fantastic Four 2, and Made of Honor, have both officially joined the sequel. Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film. Garrett will play an unspecified virtual beauty. Jeff Bridges will also reprise his role in what is being called the "next chapter" in the Tron story. Disney wants to shoot in the spring and have Tr2n in theaters by 2011.
This casting news, which comes from both the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, confirms that the supposed name change has not taken place. As far as we know, this is still titled Tr2n or Tron 2.0 and not TRZ. In addition to Jeff Bridges, the primary male lead has not been cast yet. Joseph Kosinski, who we've mentioned previously, is still directing the sequel and it looks like Disney is moving forward 100% on it. Tr2n is now officially on its way to becoming one of the most highly anticipated projects of the next few years.

The Private Eye, a noir-inspired art event hosted by Olivia Wilde of Fox Broadcast Television's show, House, and Tarryn Teresa, LLC will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at the Industrial Street Art Studios in the downtown arts district. The Private Eye will feature “Under Color of Authority,” a sardonic fine art series of 34 original hand-sculptured badge designs and a fascinating pin produced by Griffin Moss the collaborative pseudonym of Venice-based artists Ron Griffin and Bryan Moss. Two of the artworks will also be available in a limited edition series. The surrealist series demonstrates the relationship between art and crime and was motivated by the history of police misconduct and corruption in Los Angeles. Griffin Moss utilized precious metals and fine gems to symbolize the underlying theme of authority and excess. The event will feature live and silent auctions of the entire Griffin Moss original badge series and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern California.
“We are delighted to support the ACLU of Southern California through our collaboration with Griffin Moss ” said Tarryn Soderberg, owner of Tarryn Teresa, LLC.
The Private Eye has been made possible though the generous support of co-hosts Bacardi and Linear City, LLC along with several sponsors including Church and State, Rockstar Energy Drinks, Royal Clayton’s and Viesso. In addition to the live and silent auctions of the Griffin Moss badge series, guests will enjoy a lavish catered reception and complimentary entertainment by DJ Dimitri Craven. The event promises to bring a night of glamour and intrigue to over 300 guests.

The former Prospect Middle School on Mt. Washington will stand in for a hospital for the criminally insane in a locally produced film.
"In NorthWood," a psychological thriller, begins shooting July 21, says the film's co-producer, Mike Wittlin.
Shooting on the $2.2 million project is expected to last four weeks. The title refers to a mental hospital for the criminally insane. Nick Stahl stars as an inmate coping with life inside the hospital, where violent offenders are kept. "It kind of tracks him from when he goes into the maximum security of NorthWood and he encounters some characters," Wittlin says. "One is almost Hannibal Lechter-like like. He's eventually put in the minimum security. Later on in the movie, the maximum security people break out, and worlds collide."
Directed by D.W. Brown, "In NorthWood" also stars Olivia Wilde ("House, M.D." "Turistas"), Dash Mihok ("I Am Legend," "Pushing Daisies") Pittsburgh native Daniel London ("Rent") and Tariq Trotter, lead singer for the Roots.
Despite the presence of "Saw" cinematographer David Armstrong as director of photography, people should not expect a slasher film, Wittlin says. A Mt. Lebanon native, Wittlin is a former partner in Smithfield Street Productions. He's co-producing the film with Jamie Kennedy and executive producer Michael Rachmil.

Film and television star Olivia Wilde appears in a public service announcement encouraging young people to register and vote in the 2008 election. The PSAs are available today and tomorrow exclusively on MySpace and were released by 18 in '08, a nonpartisan youth-run organization dedicated to registering, mobilizing and engaging young voters for the 2008 election. The PSAs were produced by Crossborders.
"You and I are about to change the world," Olivia Wilde announces at the top of the video. Her video statement is a bold, impassioned, and personal commentary, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming election and urging young voters to make a difference by registering, getting involved, and voting. "The stakes are really high this year," says Wilde. "Decisions will be made by the next President that will affect our generation's future for decades to come. It has never been more important to get involved now."
